PoK: Boy Scouts

Who was the founder of the Boy Scouts?

What are the ranks of a cub scout? a boy scout?

Name four of the merit badges required for Eagle

State the Scout Law and Scout Oath, IF YE CAN!

Answers to PoK: Demonyms

1) Omaha - Omahans (wtg Maren)
2) Utah - Utahns is correct, Utards also accepted here
3) UAE - Emiratis, which is what I think both Kari & Maren were saying
4) Azerbijan - Azeris
5) Burkina Faso - Burkinabes
6) Gibraltar - Gibraltarians is correct (Maren, Shells)
7) Glasgow - Glaswegians
8) Phoenix - Phoenicians (yup, just like the civilization). Also Phoenixers, but that's totally lame.

I also discovered 'Syndneysiders' is the name for people from Sydney. Maren, Lady Fannie is a character in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Kari and I quote that movie to eachother because it rules. Put it at the top of your queue.

Joint effort here with Ed "Hunts-Great-Beasts" Scoutington (which means he provides the answers and takes the fall if he's wrong; I take the credit if he's right.)

1. James Baden or something really close to that

2. Cub- cub, wolf, bear, webelo
Boy Scout- scout, tenderfoot, first class, second class, star, life, eagle

3. environmental science, lifesaving, citizenship in the nation, first aid

4. Law:
"Holy Moly...A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent."

Oath:
"On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country, to obey the scout law, to help other people at all times, to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight."

No kidding, he recited them to me on the phone, no cheating.

1. No idea. I think he was British.

2. Tiger cub (a separate organization last I checked...nonetheless), cub, wolf, bear, WeBeLoS, scout, tenderfoot, second, first, star, life, Eagle.

3. First aid, the three citizenships, camping, hiking and environmental science.

4. A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, CLEAN and reverent. (Emphasis added by troop 1346.)
On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country, to obey the scout law at all times, to keep my self physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

I can only add one thing, as the previous responders are right on target. The founder of Scouting, who was indeed a Brit, was Lord Baden Powel.

I was a Girl Scout for a brief period, until I decided it was TOTALLY lame, not nearly as cool as the Boy Scouts. We never got to do anything fun. And I can't remember a single thing about their oaths, etc. Oh well, nothing gained, nothing lost.

I'm so confused... Am I the only one here that remembers the BOBCAT rank in Cub Scouts?

Doesn't matter much though; I'd forgetten some of the middle part of the Scout Oath. I am forever shamed...
